I am so glad about your booktube post. Their entitled, condescending and frankly bigoted behavior is something I am frustrated but utterly powerless about.

I am particularly crept out by just how many of them use social justice language to both justify their hatred for everything and everybody out of the norm and make it harder to spot.

The most blatant and most disturbing example I saw for this is someone named crowcaller. If you don't look at the bigger picture and don't know these books it seems like she criticizes sexist, ableist and queerphobic tropes in obscure bad YA books from 2000-2010. Very necessary work, and without context her criticism seem reasonable and rooted in real life problems.

Then she did that with books I had actually read. And oh by did she not just interpret it in the most bad faith possible and completely ignored the Zeitgeist and conventions and history of the genre, she also just. Did not pick up anything but the most obvious plot beats, character motivations and messages, and then got condescending about the book being too shallow and openly cheered on the downfall of this series.

She also constantly presents herself as this fighter for minorities rights, especially disabled peoples rights, but then I caught her talking about a mental health issue she never had and has no experience with as if she 100% knew how this works and how this needs to be portrayed. I know this issue, and what she claims is only something a small part of the community feels. However, it is what aligns with neurotypicals automatic horror about this, so these opinions are the only ones that spread.

After that, everything fell into place. How she writes "I've seen it all" about tumblr, quirkily saying how good she knows this site without being one of *those* tumblr users. How she made her entire career out of mocking books targeted at girls. How she doesn't acknowledge the things that are progressive about these books at all. How she never outright says how teen girls are so silly and stupid and inferior for liking these books, and how [insert ableist slur] people who hyperfixate on uncool things like these are, but it resonates in every video she does.

I am queer and autistic too, and as I was still too naive to spot it, I was so glad that someone like me for once managed to create a platform and be heard. Turns out she could only do that, because unlike me and most other queer autistic people, she is confident to the point of not being able to see just how unqualified she is, and even more, she only says exactly what neurotypicals (and the more assimilated queer autistic people) want to hear.

And I get it, it feels good to think you are superior to those pathetic boy obsessed girls. Which probably makes this such an effective tactic.

I hate how platforms only ever push people like this. And I hate that people like this are able to shape the publics opinion when they have the least skills for that.

I hate how they get away with hiding their loathing behind feminism, or anti-ableism, or queer advocacy while mocking everybody in these groups who doesn't manage to conform.

Now, crowcaller is far from the only Booktuber who uses these tactics. But it struck me particularly much because she as an queer autistic person really should know better than behaving like this. Peak Pick-Me. And also... using your minority identities and progressive beliefs to hide your bigotry behind is just so gross.

And I hate just how little people seem to pick that up.

I'm gonna be real dude I think my nitpicks of various videos and whatever you've got going on specifically with this crowcaller person are like. maybe totally different issues.

I'd also like to point out that re: your first sentence, referring to the entirety of booktube as "entitled, condescending and frankly bigoted" as if every person posting about books on youtube is sone sort of hive mind is exactly the kind of unsubstantiated overgeneralization that I have been dogging on various booktubers for making. I am by no means trying to expose all of booktube as corrupt or innately bad, namely because that's impossible to do for hundreds if not thousands of unaffiliated creatives with wholly different styles and interests.

Do you have any Skeptunist headcanons you'd like to share?

[kicks down the door] IT'S MY TIME TO SHINE!

So, uh, I should probably warn everyone, it's 1500 words worth of random headcanons. And that's not even all of the HCs I have, I know there are a couple I'm forgetting... So yeah, it's gonna be long. I am so sorry, dear anon, I went a little crazy-

Well, have these old doodles of them that I think forgot to share before [I genuinely can't remember if I put these on my Tumblr before], just so that this isn't just one giant block of text. These are from like February or so, but I updated them to match their new designs [I gave them mouths], yippee!

Warning: I squish and stretch these guys like playdough, especially Opportunist. And by that, I mean they are likely very, very OOC, especially as they get further from the events of the game time-wise. So if you're looking for an accurate analysis and representation of how these two would interact, you might not like this post and my headcanons.

Also for context: this is all set in my main post-canon [post-Unknown Together ending] AU, where voices and vessels start off separately, and it would take a long, long, long while for them to meet. Without voices making vessels worse, and vessels making voices worse, everyone gets to slowly address their problems. Essentially, it's "everyone gets therapy" /j

With that said, Skeptunizm:

1. I like to describe the way they start their relationship / get to know each other with the word "curiosity". Opportunist is always scheming, always playing games, always trying to gain an upper hand. His mind is one giant puzzle, and Skeptic is very much curious about it and is drawn to figure out how Oppy thinks and what's going on in that rat brain. Oppy, meanwhile, is very much a suck-up, always looking for people to cozy up to, and so Skeptic, with his intelligence and general levelheadedness, feels like a natural choice for Opportunist to try to gain the favor of. He is interested in Skeptic, curious to see if he could get his trust and get him to join his schemes. Skeptic, of course, isn't stupid and doesn't fall for Oppy's tricks, but he's doing an investigation of his own, so he plays along. And so there they go, spending a lot of time together, naturally drawn to each other and curious about each other's strengths-

Okay, I know this is less "headcanon" and more of a "hear me out" on Skeptunist, but I had to write down exactly why I got so interested in these two in the first place. This is what started this train, and now I can't get off /silly

Here are some of my actual HCs:

2. One of the first HCs I made for these two: they are both yappers and will not shut up unless you interrupt them. In Oppy's case, he likes the sound of his own voice (/j), or rather, he likes to brag and talk all about his wonderful accomplishments (they are all greatly exaggerated, and no one buys it). Skeptic, meanwhile, is bursting with weird esoteric knowledge and interests, and he will talk about it all if not stopped. And part of the reason why they get along so well is that they actually *listen* to each other's endless yap: Skeptic listens to Oppy because he likes trying to piece together which parts of his stories are exaggerated and which parts are true, and of course, he's also taking extensive notes on Oppy and his bragging tendencies (still gotta figure out the rat). As for Oppy, I think at first, he is half-listening to Skeptic out of politeness, just to get on his good side, but at some point, he genuinely gets interested in some of the topics that Skeptic talks about, especially ones he thinks could be useful for his schemes and general persuasiveness, like psychology or linguistics/pragmatics. So they both talk a lot, but they also listen to each other-

3. Skeptic likes to investigate and learn about his fellow flock's experiences with the Construct, and since he and Oppy never really met there (outside of Razor and MoC, but they haven't even talked to each other once during those), Skeptic is extra curious about what the routes he was in were like, what the Princesses looked like, how he acted during said routes, and so on, and so forth. Of course, he knows that Oppy was a notorious betrayer and backstabber, but he wants to hear about it from the man himself. Generally though, Oppy avoids the topic (until they get closer) because he doesn't really like talking about the Construct (the only exceptions are Wraith and Witch, which he talks about quite a bit as an explanation to his hurting right ankle and back, but that's more of an Oppy HC)

4. On the topic of Oppy's ankle, once they are actually in a romantic relationship, Oppy will sometimes pretend that his ankle hurts (or back, but usually ankle) just so that Skeptic can carry him places. Skeptic can very easily tell when Oppy is lying, so sometimes he goes, "You're not fooling anyone, Oppy," but sometimes, he plays along and goes, "Fine, just this once though" (it will happen again). Though, if Oppy's ankle actually genuinely hurts, and he's having trouble walking, Skeptic can usually tell that, and he will very gently carry him around even without asking. God, these birds make me so sick-

5. On the topic of the game routes, I'd like to think they would also bond over their experience with HEA (now that Skeptic is there instead of Paranoid). I feel like neither of them is particularly fond of that route (especially the "lit torch" ending), and I actually had a fic idea where Skeptic comforts Opportunist after the latter wakes up from an HEA-flashback-nightmare. Yes, I did also reference that idea in my "It was in your nature" fic. I will write that idea one day. Maybe-

6. Oppy is really good at figuring out everyone's likes/preferences without ever asking them directly, and of course, he did so for Skeptic, too. So whenever he brings Skeptic gifts, he just oh-so-happened to know that Skeptic's favorite flowers are irises, that he likes super dark chocolate, and that his favorite dessert is carrot cake. Skeptic tries to get Oppy to divulge where he learned these from, but Oppy just charmingly smiles (the answer is Smitten, and Skeptic figures that out fairly quickly, Grey brothers my beloved <3)

7. On the topic of Oppy figuring stuff out without asking, I don't remember if I ever mentioned this on my Tumblr, but I used to HC Skeptic as touch-averse aroace / demiromantic ace. If you've seen my recent Skeptunist art, you can probably tell that I've since changed my mind (and finally decided that he is a demiromantic ace), but I do still think that Skeptic is pretty particular about hugs and prefers certain gestures over others. He doesn't think it's that big of a deal, however, and wouldn't complain about that to Oppy, and if he ever mentions it, it'd be more of an "isn't it interesting" kind of statement. Oppy does his best to respect these preferences because as much as he is an annoying little rat, he doesn't want to make Skeptic uncomfortable, especially once he genuinely grows to care about him <3

8. On the topic of physical touch, I HC touch-starved Oppy (because of that one PatD line where he asks the Narrator about what Dragon's hand feels like) who desperately tries to hide that fact from everyone. Skeptic eventually figures that out (with some help from Smitten), and while Oppy is not happy about that, he does actually really appreciate physical contact: hand holding, hugs, cuddles, and more, though, of course, he will never actually admit that out loud.

9. They enjoy playing games together, specifically card games or stuff like chess. For chess specifically, a friend suggested this idea where Oppy, at first, has no idea how to play chess besides the basics, and so when they play, it's them mostly just chatting, and Skeptic barely paying attention to the game (he doesn't want Oppy to feel bad about not understanding the game)... but over time, Oppy actually learns different strategies and whatnot, and while Skeptic isn't paying attention, Oppy just puts him in checkmate. Wait, I actually have an old crappy sketch of that idea.

There you go, them! I had a few other HCs related to them playing board games with other voices (mainly that they would be scarily good at a game like Codenames together), but with the HEA update, I actually think now that they both would have trouble playing board games on a "voices game night" so they (along with Hero) don't really participate in those, at least not for a while.

10. Oppy is very embarrassed to admit that he hates and has trouble sleeping in pitch darkness. Skeptic, meanwhile, is a night owl who will stay up until 4 am reading books or writing random notes, so Oppy likes falling asleep in Skeptic's room since he always has a light/candle with a very soft/warm light. Yes, this is all set up for cuddles. No, I am not sorry /silly

11. Skeptic writes his notes almost exclusively shorthand, and none of the voices can read what the hell they say. Except for Opportunist, who learned shorthand just so that he can understand Skeptic's notes (and do just a little bit of snooping). Skeptic is fully aware of what Oppy is doing, but he doesn't mind, most of his notes are random nonsense anyway.

12. Skeptic often gets very lost in his readings/investigations/writing/whatever, and other voices often have to remind him to eat and take breaks and stuff. Of course, Oppy is one of them, and he constantly pokes fun at Skeptic for his terrible eating habits. But he also definitely brings Skeptic snacks and lunch, and also frequently takes him places just so that Skeptic actually takes a break (I certainly did not write a fic that started from that idea). In general, Oppy does a lot of small favors for Skeptic, which originally started as him trying to get on Skeptic’s good side, but as they got closer, it just became part of Oppy’s love language, if that makes sense. I imagine neither of them is good with words, so both express care in literally any way that’s not words /lh /exaggerated. 

13. They banter. A lot. It’s EG ship, and EG cannot live without banter. So of course that’s included in the ship [aggressively nods]

…Again, I am so sorry, this ended up so long, and it isn't even all of my HCs, those are just the ones I could remember off the top of my head like that. I, uh, am not okay about these birds. Please send help /lh /j

So let's talk QL weddings!! First of all, I would like to give a shoutout to a few excellent weddings already depicted in Thai QL:

And I would have liked to have been personally invited to every one of them, thank you very much. I'm a very fun wedding guest! I drink like a fish, I'm a happy drunk, and I love to dance, and on top of that I'm a mom friend and consummate problem solver who will absolutely take over and handle shit if the wedding planner is incompetent.

As for the weddings I would still like to see, oh I definitely have a list:

Oyei and Cher, Wandee Goodday: This is within the realm of possibility in the very near future and I will be lighting all my candles and manifesting hard for the next month.

Ten and Prem, Cooking Crush: Those were definitely engagement portraits on the wall in that epilogue and I would like to see it! I feel strongly that if I don't see at least one pair of OffGun characters get married onscreen I will simply perish.

Patts and Tai, La Pluie: You just know Patts is gonna be so extravagant and Tai is gonna be such a drama queen about it. To restore balance to the universe, Tien should get to throw a tantrum and make Tai's wedding all about his latest fight with Lomfon.

Tian and Jiu, Khun Chai: I just think Tian deserves it!!!!

Every couple in The Warp Effect: We can make it a dorky group wedding if we have to, whatever it takes to see all those beautiful queer people lawfully wed to their chosen partner.

Phumjai and Yang, Love in Translation: They are business partners in love, they should get to have a wedding with a silly photoshoot in the aisles of their store.

Any pair, Knock Knock Boys: Stay with me now, I think the bl boys should get to partake in the time honored het tradition of getting drunkenly married on a bender and regretting it.

Khanin and Charan, The Next Prince: If this show does not deliver an extravagant royal wedding, what are we even doing here??

I've been partially mentioning this, but here it's more collected, but in short OUR WALKTHROUGH OF LIGHT FNGERS IS EVEN MORE OF A SITUATION THAN LIGHT FINGERS ITSELF

I love this fact so much that at some point me and Rinja are going to make a whole list of WHAT WENT WRONG (hybrid is now a sequencer with moon-misery (dawn-miser LMAO) and mr fires got it, so know this), and a part of this is gonna be a situation of Kys and Edward (this is not a full description of it, but maybe I'll make a full one someday)

behold, first in the fandom HEALTHY relationships with Edward, AND THAT'S NOT EVEN A JOKE

I'm gonna start with the obvious, but probably unexpected, Edward is COMPLETELY identical to Rinja, and Rinja is completely identical to Edward, and what Edward would do, Rinja would do too (considering the context of the former one) and vice versa, and Rinja is my irl internet best friend, and fl Kys' best friend as well, and it's not even an exaggeration of any of the sides, THEY ARE BOTH FUCKED UP AND IT'S ABSOLUTELY A FACT

and you know who Rinja has as well? THEIR GIRLFRIEND, and their relationships can be fairly called healthy as well (literally like Kys and Edward, it's like the gay version of those two, no jokes that there are many similarities)

there are many factors that they SUDDENLY could get together, of course, not without the difficulties of the ambition itself (fortunately, Rinja could also support Kys as a fellow bpd aspd guy just as Edward), and also, I've realized that Kys doesn't even hate Edward like it's described in the ambition, and could get used to him, BECAUSE HE LITERALLY HAS THE EXPERIENCE, and even on the wedding in the nightmare orphanage he doesn't lock him up here, firstly I thought that Kys would think that it's too cruel and would probably give Edward a second chance because he doesn't hold a personal grudge against him (objectively his life wasn't the best, POOR EDWARD), but the actual answer is that HE WOULDN'T EVEN THINK THAN YOU COULD DO THAT, he would literally ask him to give him the goblet with the moon milk, for safety, but will refuse to drink the milk, and will agree to marry him for the hybrid, AND THEN HE AND RINJA WILL TELL HIM THAT THEY'RE GONNA GET HIM OUT OF HERE LATER

AND THEY WILL DO IT

EDWARD STILL CAN BE IN LONDON LIKE USUAL

AND KYS HAS ACCEPTED HIS FATE THAT HE NEEDS TO BE CLOSE TO HIM

even though it's a little funny, he's gonna be homeless for some time and will return to the nightmare orphanage until he suggests to work as an officer on Kys' ship, and then later they could even sleep together (lol Edward is gonna have more problems with this, than Kys), WHICH IS ABSOLUTELY CUTE AND I ADORE THIS

and also the confirmation that everything is serious between those two, I've been thinking about their fankid, pretty much real, but not that much (WITHOUT MPREG I DON'T ALLOW MPREG), giggling, from parabola and with the help of Kys' eldritch beings, AND IT'S SO CUTE I'M CRYING

there are many things to discuss, about Edward himself and our headcanons and analysis of him we could tell a lot about him, both about his past and present life and how he would react to the changes (and the feeling that he has an identity), BUT. Mmmmm Till sleep walking through the refugee camp, his eyes downcast and shoulders slumped and defeated as he blends in with the crowds of people who've escaped their own situations. Nothing special to see here, nothing special at all. His force presence is quiet and weighed down, hardly even visible if you aren't looking.

He's dissosiating like 80% of the time and that's what let's him get the jump on Dooku, who's probably there to poke at Obi-Wan and was NOT expecting the guitar to the back of his head.

ok so about That Post. it was an ill-conceived, stream-of-conscious before-bed post. it was a hot take, by nature not everyone would agree. That It came from a place projection, as someone who is very much in the sort of demographic who would be subject to slurs probably didnt help.

I should have worded it better, to make it clear what the thought actually was (This anon worded it far better than I ever could!), and also to make it clear that it was an opinion on a subject that is in of itself not very well defined in the canon anyway. I probably shouldve clarified and called it headcanon, because my interpretation of the subject could differ so much from other peoples (and evidently, it did! and thats ok.)

I didnt like my post being misunderstood, and that now some people are under the impression that I dismiss all of Snapes faults, when I really dont (The whole point of him is that he's morally grey and makes terrible choices! thats the whole appeal!) but again, I was the one who worded it poorly, and didnt make my full, complete and exact thoughts clear. People responded and disagreed and that's their right to do so. (for the record, I literally agree with a lot of what they said, and have even responded to say so! those responses are still there, though idk if anyone ever saw them.)

I think this whole situation was just a perfect unfortunate storm - i was already in a bad situation irl, I woke up to this situation over here, and then soon after heard very upsetting news about a friend, and then the situation here just kept going. I've been trying to avoid tumblr since - my irl problems arent anyones fault. It was admittedly a bit upsetting, and demoralizing (NO ONES FAULT BUT MINE!!) - I dont actually have much experience in fandom. I had 1-2 or so years of active posting in a VERY different fandom before this and that was ALL. This account here, was my real return to any online space in general after a very difficult hiatus, so suffice it to say, I'm not really used to any of this. (i also have trouble understanding tone from text a lot of times. thats no ones fault either.)

I didnt want to cause trouble, and I didnt wanna make anyone angry, and certainly didnt wanna make things worse, or cause drama for anyone. I just wanted to post sneep art and the occasional thought. gonna dial it back now on the thoughts! stick to silly posts lighthearted posts only! not because anyone was wrong for disagreeing with me or anything like that, but because I recognize that I am not equipped for such things at this current time!

this is something i've heard before that was an unexpected but welcome benefit of the blog! i have to say, i have no clue what i'm going to do once i get past silicobra—now that we're getting into newer generations (the queue is already into gen 8), my typical sources of models are starting to become more and more unreliable and there are some pokémon that i just can't find anywhere on the internet. not sure exactly what i'm gonna do if i can't find them, to be honest, and the current state of the blog has already been getting rougher around the edges behind the scenes anyway. i've been told to just go on indefinite hiatus until some more models are ripped, but i don't really want to do that. comments like these are really why i don't want to, even if the blog isn't exactly conducive to my mental health—y'know. it's been on a consistent schedule for this long, and at least two people are waiting for these every day so. i can't just give up. but i still don't really know what i'm going to do. it's a little scary, looking into the future, but i just hope i can keep providing in the same way y'all have come to expect from me. not many of you are here for me and a good majority are obviously here for what i call Regularly Scheduled Programming, and since asks usually only get around 20 notes max, i doubt a majority of those folks will even see this—and that's fine; they're here for silly front-facing pokémon and i'm doing my best to oblige. but the problem with that is that i know how the tumblr userbase can be, and i'm slightly afraid of what would happen if i did go on a random hiatus. who would even read the post saying why? the dedicated ones, sure; the ones that enjoy my commentary, sure. but i already said i don't want to go on hiatus, so i suppose i'll have to find a way. i don't know what that way may be, and i imagine that way is only going to make this harder on me

I recently justgot TikTok back on my phone, and I swear to fuck I saw the most mind-boggling bullshit of a comment that I have ever come across.

So I'm going to rant about it here, because my phone sucks ass and TikTok constantly crashes on me every time I try to post anything on there (plus here on Tumblr I can swear as I damn well please and OH am I pissed).

It was a video about censorship and kids being in adult spaces (things legally labeled for an 18+ audience). Saying that we, as adults, have the 'responsibility' to keep these spaces 'clean' for the kiddos rather than just outright kicking out the little fuckers or ignore them if they're being quiet.

But that wasn't what made me the most angry.

No, it gets worse.

This same person then commented 'well we should keep all adults away from kids stuff like Roblox and all that too' and I just lost my goddman mind over this.

Like how? Can someone just?? Be this ignorant and stupid???

Even if an adult joins Roblox of their own volition (like I did last year), it doesn't mean we're suddenly gonna all be predators or some other bullshit because there's kids involved or the game/service is rated 'E' for everyone.

In all honesty, I just wanna play the games and mind my own business - I don't even use the chat function at all, simply because I don't want to talk with minors in any way (or really any other players) while I'm trying to relax and play Dandy's World or do some silly 'wheat harvest' game to pass the time.

And what about those who grow up with Roblox? Do they suddenly just get their accounts deleted once they're 18+?

Because that sounds so fucking stupid to me, just imagine how far that could really go if it was implemented and no one would be happy with it.

Now, I get a tiny part of it. There are real predators out there using these services/games to target real children. And some stuff on Roblox should not be on there, or at least be HEAVILY 'censored' (i.e. blocked) so no accounts under 18+ will get access to them so easily. Because nasty people will exist, and kids will always be curious/naive enough to go snooping.

But here's the thing.

These services themselves to need to be more monitored, I agree. But if people are going to have the 'morality debate' over this, we should be wary of what censorship can/will do if the government gets their grubby fingers into it.

I remember hearing someone say that 'these things should not be censored but instead berated and demonized like any other bad thing that exists in the world'. Because, if we forget, things like CP and all that are already illegal. And 99% of the time, we can either report it when we see it or look away.

It's not 'moral' to think that by simply censoring what we don't like will lead to a more 'pure' world. It is just fascism, pure and simple. And giving that power to the elite only means THEY can do all that nasty stuff while saying we are the 'problem'. Literally what Hitler did during WW2, and we all should remember how bad it was for everyone involved at the time.

Just remember, ask why the person wants 'censorship' and explain to them why it's truly bad compared to knowing these things exist. Because hiding it away won't make it disappear. We just become blind to it, and that is what THEY want.

...also, we were all kids once. It's nothing new, to see kids sneaking around looking at porn or other gross stuff they may not be ready for. The best we can do is help these kids once they're ready for that talk, and for their damn parents to actually give a shit enough to monitor their online activity instead of blaming other people for whatever their kid sees/does.

If these kids see nasty stuff, cool. We all saw it too, it doesn't make them special if they suddenly say 'ew gross' and then complain about it. They're only hurting the communities they infest, even moreso now that a lot of them are spouting Purity Culture as if they'll suddenly be 'superior' to the rest of us for 'speaking out' against the cringe every single fandom that exists has.

But even if I hate how it's going, I still wouldn't censor any of it. If I truly find something outright illegal, I report it and move on. And that's it.

I don't like it? I'll just scroll/block.

Having different opinions on characters and vocalizing it is very important to fandom growth. You guys need to understand this. If you force everyone is like a charater then not only does it make the fandom boring to interact with it but it also creates drama. AKA THE WHOLE “LOWAR”. - J'ahden Kaji (🏷️) (inspo) - Arley's adopted Seeker elder brother. Not affiliated with any Miqo'te tribe. Co-WoLs (albeit Echo-lessly) with Arley when necessary

- Rymmgeim Junghyltwyn (🏷️) (inspo) - WAR-main Sea Wolf, also has the Echo, joined the Scions and became one of Arley's most dependable allies in combat

☆The (alternate) universes my OCs feature in are:

- Main Scenario Quests AU (🏷️) - follows the main story of the game very closely, with Arley in the Warrior of Light role. Most of my fic is based in this world

- Roleplay AU (🏷️) - aka non-WoL!AU, for whenever I'm struck with the fancy to RP with others on Arley as just another Regular Adventurer. Differs as little or as much from MSQverse as is suitable for whatever the RP content is

- The Epilogue (🏷️) - though not an "AU" as such, this post-timeskip period a decade or so after the events of the actual game is the one I'm (most) hopelessly obsessed with, because it stars my beloved "grandkids" (i.e. the children of my first-generation characters)

- Modern AU (🏷️) - aka Community College AU, a silly idea that grabbed me by the throat and would not leave me alone when I was exploring what Arley and Thancred's relationship would be like under entirely different circumstances

- Minfilia Lives AU () - been getting brainworms about how close and meaningful Minfilia and Arley's friendship was, and how it could have possibly gradually blossomed into romance had a certain goddess not summoned Minfilia to another world

Question regarding the goal oriented updates! Also I swear I'm not jumping on you like some of these bafoons omg, just want to clarify da rulez ™️

Are you going to do separate goals for ao3 and tumblr? For example, if tumblr gets 100 notes will you update on ao3 as well, or will they have to meet their own goal to get an update?

Also if I goal is not met in a reasonable time will you wait until that goal is met before releasing? I suppose I'm asking if there's like a time limit before a chapter is released without the goal. I'm assuming if there is, it won't be announced because that defeats the purpose of encouraging more interaction. Although I'm sure we'll have no problem reaching the goals anyways. Also for notes is the number a combination of reblogs, likes and comments? Or is it going to be a specific one of those.

Okay so! I’m actually going to establish separate goals for Wattpad and Tumblr. I did think of AO3, but since kudos are global and not chapter-based, I just don’t see how it could work.

The point is—as long as you achieve any goal, I will continue onto writing next chapter! And that means it will be published on all 3 platforms. It would be silly to gatekeep it from Wattpad for instance when it is available in Tumblr lol. So as long as you hit the notes or votes goal, either on T or W, you all get the new chapter, in all platforms.

As for time limit—I think for non pre-written chapters like FMU I will generally take at least a week to write. Achieving the goal means I focus my energy on writing the next chapter and will do my best to maintain the weekly schedule I had until now.

But of course I’m only human, if I happen to set a low goal and you guys reach it within 20 minutes—I can’t physically vomit another chapter in 20 minutes hahahaha.

That said, KGP is different because there’s many chapters pre-written, so in that case I could get chapters out within days, which is what I meant previously. Of course I still need to proofread and edit them. But that takes me around 30 minutes, so it can be done quickly (unlike pulling a whole new chapter out of my ass).

Notes are valid in all their forms! I am honestly just applying what other authors have applied successfully—and they never make a distinction. So if you guys want to comment or reblog to your heart’s content do so. As long as the goal is reached, I promise a next chapter will be in the works. 💕

Now finally, regarding there being a time limit if the goal isn’t reached—frankly I don’t think so. The whole point of this is to make sure I am focusing my energies into what people are excited about and enthusiastic enough to show appreciation. And my appreciation is thus shown back through providing more of that free content. If I were to publish at some point despite not reaching the goal, it would defeat the whole purpose.

But! I don’t think you guys should be scared about that. Notes and votes accumulate over time, so really, it’s literally only a matter of time before we reach the goal. Even fanfics out there with crazy ass goals (like 5k notes or 3k votes) are making it, and I do have a lot of engagement in form of asks and such. We just need a lil’ nudge!

And again—I am not delusional! I’m not gonna be establishing 1k notes goal next week like I’m some sort of parody villain. I plan to be realistic! And I’ll slowly adjust to what you guys can provide. 🖤

Coly, the company behind Mahoyaku and Stand My Heroes, have announced a new game. Some friends and I realized that despite looking somewhat generic at first glance, it's got a handful of intriguing things going on with it! So here's a quick kind of long introduction to/my thoughts on Break My Case!

First: the website! The music on the site is really good! Go listen while you read this post!! There are 12 people listed as composers in the credits page, and it seems most every VA involved has at least a bit of experience with singing or music projects. The tone is a bit dark for a rhythm game (though I'm not ruling that out entirely), but otherwise it seems like there's gonna be a music focus. Cool! As far as other staff goes--the main scenario writer is also the writer of Stand My Heroes, and the character designer is Utako Yukihiro, who also did some work for B-Project.

The story concerns a cafe with a myriad of eccentric employees that runs an after-hours service where they solve problems. The exact nature of all this is left pretty vague.

And the draw for a game like this: The characters! Interestingly, they're divided into different departments at the cafe. What exactly those departments do isn't clear yet. As for the characters themselves--the more we looked at them, the more we liked them, lol. Quick summaries about what intrigued us about each guy. Note that these are not translations, none of us are fluent in Japanese (we all know just enough to get by with the google+jisho combo lol), and this should all be taken with a grain of salt.

The Main Office, consisting of Ai Kosaka, Yuzuru Kise, and Roka Suoh. (Names are listed in western given-family order because that's what the site uses for romanized names.) Roka is the one who owns the cafe, is the oldest character in the bunch at 36, and is that fun "mysterious guy with unknown backstory and an endless amount of weird acquaintances, who acts incompetent but might actually be hypercompetent" type of trope.

On account of the whole acting-incompetent thing, Ai and Yuzuru run the actual cafe business. And normally I won't be including fullbody character art in this post but I have to make an exception just this once.

Anyways.

Tumblr won't let me put four images in a row. Come on man. I wanna maintain the BMC's site style. Why are you mean to me. Anyways. The Simulation Department, consisting of Kou Ayato, Mao Ukyo, Akehoshi Hinomiya, and Yuragi Kanno. "Simulation" is its English name given on the site, but the Japanese given would probably read more like "relationship department".

Kou is a footloose playboy and Mao is a serious intellectual type, but apparently Kou will ask Mao to pretend to be his girlfriend so that he can avoid trouble with women. That's gay. I love that. (Mao is a guy [as far as we know], he just likes makeup--he's not the only one in that cast who does, either!) We all want Mao's outfit.

Akehoshi was a sleeper hit in the group chat, because his bio has a sentence about how he's the most normal-looking-yet-dangerous employee at the cafe, and also explicitly describes him as being like a dog, and naturally we all went crazy for the silly puppy as soon as we realized that he was in fact a silly puppy. Yuragi, on the other hand, likes cats. Such a classic for his character design trope, lmao.

The Administrative Department, consisting of Taiga Tsukimoto, Haruhi Ichikawa, and Sei Okiya. Taiga looks cool but if you look at his fullbody he's wearing awful sweatpants and apparently he cries while watching anime. I love this for him. Haruhi is a streamer because that's like an obligatory character trope now I guess. Sei was very popular in the group chat for being the single most suspicious character in the cast. What's his problem.

The Watchdog Department (or enforcement department, if you translate the jpn) consists of Shizuka Fushimi, Takeru Mikado, Soyogu Shinkai, and Shinobu Aizawa.

My friend described Shizuka as a "wet looking glasshole" and yeah. ok. unfortunately he does look like that. But it's ok he's allowed because his bio says he prefers quiet, orderly places with plants and no people and keeps to himself in common spaces but his own room is a complete mess. AKA he's an autism king. So I like him.

Takeru was obviously a hit because look at them. Takeru and Mao talk about makeup together, apparently. CUTE! Shinobu is the most fashionable guy in the cast and his bio says he has a few screws loose, which is amazing. Good for him. I have nothing to say about Soyogu I think I forgot he existed until I was putting this post together and I only looked at these all guys a few hours ago

The Negotiation Department, with Kiho Arima, Kyoya Shido, and Riku Tateshina. I described this group as "grandma, grandpa, and Columbo" and then the group chat couldn't call any of them anything else. And I do mean grandma. Because. ok. another fullbody. Because oh my god we have to look at Kiho.

GIRL. WHAT. IS. THAT. YOU'RE WEARING A CARPET. YOU'RE WEARING A COUCH. kiho is apparently a fortune teller and my friend acted as if this excused the outfit but i DONT agree i don't think anything excuses this. WHAT IS THAAAAAT

Kyoya is an artist and Riku is a psychologist so honestly this is a really fun bunch of jobs going on in this department. Riku is described as someone who falls in love easily, and he's most interested in Ai (from the Main Office, the very first guy in this post). We couldn't tell if the implication there is that he's in love with Ai, or if he falls in love with random people and yet his true attention always drifts back to Ai. Both of these options are gay.

The ST (special tasks) Department, with Yomose Onda, Yu Nina, Kamiya, and Urara Manami.

Yu had his life saved by Tomose and has now dedicated himself to him, to the point of being ready to die for him. YOU GOTTA LOVE THAT. INCREDIBLE TROPE. UNBEATABLE. GAY AS HELL. All we know from Tomose's side is that he's "fond" of Yu. That's fine I'm sure you can learn to love him. Or learn to hate him. Whatever's more entertaining.

Kamiya has no memory, hence the singular name. I'm sure whatever's going on there is weird and interesting. Urara is the youngest character, at 20. THAT'S RIGHT. THE YOUNGEST CHARACTER IS 20. THERE ARE ZERO TEENAGERS! THE AVERAGE CHARACTER AGE IS AROUND 26. THIS SHOULDN'T BE AS NOTABLE AS IT IS BUT THAT'S GACHA GAMES FOR YOU. Anyways I like Urara because I think he looks like an angry kitty.

Anyways, that's the gist of what we know about BMC--or BreMai, if you wanna go for something closer to the jpn abbreviation--right now. More info might drop at/around Animate Girls Fest, since they seem to be giving out game beta codes there. I don't know if I'm completely sold on it just yet--coly did just have a detective-themed gacha game fail a few months ago with &0. But we're not even completely sure it is a gacha yet, or what kind of gameplay it might have otherwise, so... there's a bit of hope. Maybe it'll be a weird cool dark rhythm game! Who knows!!!

HEY GUESS WHAT I'm down to the last two episodes of She-Ra in my rewatch

On a related note, should you desire to read them all starting from s1ep1 for some godforsaken reason, here's the link. Please be amused at my claims that I would not do this for every episode and my repeated attempts to cut back on how much I copy/paste dialogue and/or explain the entire plot instead of just making jokes and commentary

If, somehow, you are New Here, I've been rewatching all of the 2018 She-Ra, ostensibly for fic-writing reasons as I had forgotten huge quantities of the plot. I have since become deeply obsessed, as one does.

I make a lot of adult jokes, random asides, references to other things, commentary, and a lot of cursing and crying. I love Catradora and I love Catra especially and have a tendency to add a screenshot every time they so much as look at each other. It seems silly to warn for spoilers at this point, but yeah, this is a RE-watch. It's just that I forgot a lot of it because I watched it the first time as it was coming out (pun intended). The shit I did remember is so fucking random tho lol

The last time I tried to do a two-parter in one post the number of times I had to reblog it because tumblr only allows 30 images per post got real stupid, so while I do still assume I will have to reblog multiple times per episode, I'm doing each episode separately.

ON A RELATED NOTE I know I made the joke in the last episode about how many people have the failsafe as a tattoo but the PROBLEM is that now I literally LIVE with a tattoo artist whose work I like--I already have two tattoos they've done, here and here, and the temptation is extremely high?? but I don't have any other obvious fandom-related tattoos (unless you count the title of a Björk song) so it feels weird to start with this one???? Like I don't have any LoTR or BBC Sherlock or SU or K/DA tattoos (to list off a bunch of fandoms I was devastatingly obsessed with at the time) so getting one for THIS fandom feels kinda weird. But like, also, if I got it kinda small on one wrist it would look kinda cool and be a nice loud DID U KNOW I'M GAY kinda thing. Gyahhh.

related aside but like, every culture that figured out bows and arrows invented at least one kind of string instrument. Literally archers just fidgeting with their bows and going "oh this makes a nice sound, what if I put more strings on this thing." So many different places and cultures invented things like a guitar or like a harp or like a violin. But also I want to know who the FUCK figured out the hurdy-gurdy??? oh my god I just looked up the hurdy-gurdy and I'm cracking up because one of the earliest depictions of it is from the 1100's, in the Santiago de Compostela cathedral. A place I have been. Because I did the Camino last year.

I would like to take a moment and be grateful for the people who put together the transcripts on the fandom wiki for saving me typing up long bits of lore-heavy dialogue

She-Ra: I need you all to get Entrapta to the Spire and keep Prime's forces distracted while she jams the signal."

"We're going to make sure that Prime can never hurt anyone ever again. We're ending this today. For good."

oh lord so Shadow Weaver is still there, sulking and looking away, and she looks over at her and starts almost losing She-Ra and being Adora again

I made that joke and then Glimmer literally says "Any sign of Catra?" I have to remember that at this point in the story literally everyone knows how in love they both are. Except them. Of course.

Adora: "She's not coming back." ;_;

Adora: I mean you don't have to come with me this could be dangerous Bow: the fuck are you talking about of course we're going

And she turns into She-Ra again, roll intro

Okay so they go to the Crystal Castle thing where Light Hope was

it doesn't look so good

but also that's creepy

anyway they tell the hologram (not Light Hope, the other one) that they're looking for the Heart of Etheria and that they're Friends of Mara. She-Ra gets scanned and then a door opens into a passageway. Bow and Glimmer take her hands and they walk into the hall but:

she's still looking for someone

I have to deal with another episode and change of her looking for Catra ghghggh this hurts meeeee

OH SO OF COURSE they literally switch to showing us Catra

bahaha okay so she sits up and looks behind her kind of sadly, and Melog just skids to a stop so hard they throw Catra off

And Melog looks at Catra like she's fucking nuts. Catra's like, wtf is wrong with you??? and Melog looks back like BITCH WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU??? Catra what did you think was going to happen when you got a therapy animal that can literally read your moods. Melog knows you're being a dumbass and has NO reason to pretend to believe your surface "I don't give a shit" act!!

Melog does airplane ears at that. And then just pounces Catra.

Time for pressure! Just like a real therapy animal. Big weighted blanket!

Catra just immediately starts crying.

Catra: "You saw what happened! Adora chose Shadow Weaver, okay? Not me!"

I can get frustrated with AU fics where these two both pull this "but what if she doesn't like me back" thing for ages while everyone around them is face-palming in frustration, but like. You have to admit. It's accurate to canon.

(It's also accurate to lesbians in general, lbh. Either fucking on the first date or doing the "but what if she's not into me" thing for months-to-years. Sometimes both, including in some of the fics I've written, heyooooo.)

Melog purrs and licks her face. A clone approaches and they both go invisible and then follow it.

MEANWHILE

the rest of the rebellion is attacking Horde Prime's ship thing

Wrong Hordak helps Entrapta get into the spire. The whole point of this fight (which I didn't bother screenshotting lol) is to give Entrapta time to disconnect everyone's chips from Horde Prime.

Lol once inside Entrapta does another one of those "holy shit this stuff looks so cool...OMG FOCUS" things

Back at the Crystal Castle Glimmers like "omg are you scared" and She-Ra says "No, I just hope this works." Liar.

Bow: "It'll be okay. And when we get back, it'll be a whole new world."

this poor girl. she's so heartbroken.

(meanwhile the plot of my fic-in-progress is literally them breaking up. (not forever.) but it's hilarious of me to get SO UPSET over this scene when I'm going to force them to repeat it. like it's a mutual decision in my fic but it doesn't make it hurt any less.)

PFFT I unpaused it, and IMMEDIATELY:

It's a hologram, she's not actually there. And Catra goes through multiple other ages, including her kid self, being chipped on Horde Prime's ship, when they were Horde cadets, etc; before going back to looking like she does now.

Adora goes to touch Catra's hand and the hologram disappears

And I think I agree with the youtube video: Adora knew she was upset about Catra running off, but this is the moment she specifically realizes she's in love, and it breaks her heart into tiny pieces.

(Hah, I actually say a very similar thing in part of my fic that they mention in the video--that previous to this, she refused to let herself want this or even think about it. "I didn't even realize this was something I could want.")

BUT ALSO so like is this a remnant of Light Hope's programming that tortured them with childhood flashbacks in season one (in order to drive them apart) or what

A still-invisible Catra follows the clone to where Horde Prime's ship is and is visibly terrified and shaking. A clone who might be Hordak turns around with that white in his eyes that means Prime is using him to see, and Catra just tries to be quiet and not move but she's obviously triggered, and I mean that in the literal PTSD sense.

Horde Prime (via Hordak?): "My brothers. The time has come at last. No longer shall She-Ra stand in my way."

oh okay so Horde Prime's actual ship is still in space (just orbiting Etheria I assume) and the planet-side thing is him speaking through one of the clones via the hive mind.

"Begin the acquisition process!"

the whole area lights up with that sickening green light, including all the lines that characters kept noticing on the ground that looked like some combo of circuit boards and First Ones' writing.

meanwhile, Adora keeps slipping out of being She-Ra for split seconds and is clearly stressing The Fuck Out and possibly walking in the wrong direction in her distress, only to walk into another memory/hologram.

last anon -- i know i wasn't super clear, but i'm not at all faulting people for being sad about being priced out from the beginning either, the increase in ticket pricing across the board has been awful on top of the growing trend of putting them on sale merely days after announcement!! i guess i've just been shocked by statements being so pointed at skz/jype as if its their faults when it is industry trends. i follow a lot of popular artists, and taemin's conduct isnt the norm sadly.
